^ i wonder what is your obsession in getting a useless big who can't play even double double in a nightly basis....
yes he's is big... but does he play like BIG??
i don't see why we are getting an outside shooter with that height(inconsistent shooter shall i say)... not a good defensive player either... not even a good rebounder...
we should have traded for future draft picks than getting YANCY........

I think its a good trade for BGK considering that we just gave up Doug Kramer, who was already placed on the reserved list and Rich Alvarez who was sparingly used. Lets face it, Yancy is a legitimate 6-11 with better scoring moves than Kramer and Alvarez. He might not be the best defender or rebounder big man, but I still feel that it is a huge improvement in our lineup. We now have Hatfield at power forward, Yancy or Eric at Center and either JC or Wilson at Small forward.

Wishes Do Come True By: patricia Bermudez Hizon
"Chairman Lito Alvarez put in his wishlist for (Wesley)Gonzales to play alongside Rich Alvarez, core of the champion Ateneo squad of 2002, and Ritualo with Mike Cortez , the stars that led LaSalle to multiple titles. “But these are just my personal wishes”, he clarifies.
Well, in the PBA, wishes do come true.
Air 21 acquired Rich Alvarez AND Doug Kramer from Baranggay Ginebra Gin Kings, getting the 2 former Ateneans to join Wesley Gonzales.
In a previous blog, I mentioned that:
"Another player who was traded recently will also be jumping ship. Will be great to be in the presence of a lot of stars and he'll have a chance to be the next torch bearer. The other team on the other hand will be trading out mr ankle breaker who will be welcomed by an old ally. Looking like a good trade."
The player traded recently is Alex Cabagnot. He'll try to be the next torch bearer as Olsen Racela really is just a tough act to follow and has set the bar so high. Mr. Ankle breaker is Mike Cortez. The Cool Cat will be welcomed his old ally Ren Ren Ritualo.
Blue + Green = .... purple?
In my blog before that, I wrote;
"The other team might just pursue a player who just got traded which will make the squad formidable in front. They'll loose a collegiate star and ship him over to another team for a little reunion."
Well, Ginebra looks like they've improved their front line with the acquisition of Yancy De Ocampo although Coach Jong says it's just a "piece of the puzzle".
Note though that all these trades are still subject for approval. The PBA has not received any letters yet from the teams as of the moment (although they're going to submit everything today) and it still needs to be formalized by the Commissioner's office.

i guess rich is the odd-man out with the re-entry of rudy hatfield, so i hope that this means that rudy will be staying for more than one confy because they took in rich to be able to fill in that void left by rudy. when all is said and done, yancy is a tall player. something that the ginkings never had since the departure of marlou. i am not saying that yancy is as dominant defensively like marlou but height is height. just that presence coupled with the "bullying" tactics of evill and mamaril could actually tire down some big men. yancy also has that "consistent" outside shot. now they can safely say that they can play inside-out. he is also a sub par passer. who knows, anybody who dons the ginkings jersey becomes a really good player e.g. intal, tubid, wilson. at least there is some change to look forward to this confy

I mean if jay jay is in the front at backup nya si celino. jay jay can create, score for himself and pass. celino is a clutch player pero more on passing din talaga sya at Def. alex can create. look for his shot and make shots habang naka bench pa si jay. he'll come off the bench with mark caguioa pa. double threat pa sa 1 - 2 position. this is so much good move ng COACHING STAFF naten. no offense to baguio. i like the energy he brings to the team. pero hanggang nanjan si mark at tubid sa 2 position he won't have much playing time and hinding hindi sya gagawing main man ni JONG ever. plus the fact that the gins are building its future with JC intal, malabo na talagang magshine pa si baguio sa atin. nakikita ko kasi si cyrus na MVP type player given enough playing time and more plays para sa kanya.. if he goes to AIR 21 i'll be more happy. baka maging 2nd team ko na ang air 21 sa pba. ang dami kasing nega agad kanina sa shoutbox. tamang senti tuloy.

in a way, cyrus was able to build up his trade value while he was with the ginkings. however, i do not really want to see him move out of the team. if he could accept his role as a sixth or seventh man (ala PJ simon) i think he could be very effective. at least the open court situation for the ginkings will always be there. heck both tubid and baguio could come off the bench and could still play starters' minutes. it is all up to the coaching staff plus the fact that imports would eat up some minutes from the big men. i think we would not be able to see the team setup this confy because of the import. come all filipino, granting that rudy will play more than one confy. then we could have one of the best (cannot say that effective yet) starting five and a deep bench composed of menk, tubid, baguio, celino, wilson, mamaril. heck that could be a starting five in other teams

^ DID we forget about Kevin White is also a PG?? plus we are not sure yet if Mark Caguioa is gonna come back 100%... im still worried about his injuries.. ekekek.. same with jayjay...
adding cabagnot for baguio... does not make sense to me.. why?? we've got a point guard in kevin white who can at least play more minutes.... why do we still need cabagnot right now??
baguio will soon play more minutes if Mark Caguioa is gonna get injured again... i think MC is going down once again... we saw him play... for me it's like rejuvination no more...
same with jayjay... with the age and knees bothering him... magiging injury prone na yan...
lets give kevin white the torch...lets not pursue cabagnot... i want the rookie minutes for kevin white and he can really be our next point guard

rudy hatfield signed for one conference... i guess the main thing that could make him stay longer is to win championships... coz he's here for real....
so i guess the team knows what they're doing... instead of making useless trades.... we should be doing better... but for now... everything sucks... getting a bad rep import... getting a soft big man... booooooo!! definitely

Healthy Gin Kings source of joy for Jong
MANILA, Philippines—So far, Jong Uichico is having none of the problems that besieged his Barangay Ginebra crew in the last PBA tournament.
“So far, so good,” Uichico told the Inquirer Wednesday, shortly after a practice game against Rain or Shine.
Although his boys lost by four points, Uichico was upbeat of his Gin Kings’ chances in the coming Fiesta Conference because all his stars are healthy so far.
“I just hope it stays that way,” added the multi-titled mentor, who is gunning for a second win in three years in the import-flavored, season-ending event with reinforcement Awvee Storey.
Reigning MVP Jayjay Helterbrand and Mark Caguioa, Ginebra’s heart and soul who sat out majority of the Philippine Cup because of varying leg injuries, are now 100-percent fit and Uichico made it no secret that the duo will again play a great role in the Kings’ coming stint.
Ginebra won this tournament two years ago with a 7-foot reinforcement in Chris Alexander, a gem of an import unveiled by the Kings who are hoping that they have found another diamond in the rough in Storey.
“He’s not flashy, but he is very hardworking and he is very effective,” Uichico said, even as he expressed some sort of disappointment that he wasn’t able to land Alex Cabagnot from Air21 to address his backcourt need.
The soft-spoken coach is also confident that he can give Yancy De Ocampo a second wind in his career.
“I know what they (experts) have been saying, that Yancy is slow and that Yancy is lazy and all of those things,” Uichico said. “But to me, he is a player that complements what the team already has.”
Meanwhile, only three returning imports are in the official list—Gabriel Freeman of the defending champion San Miguel Beermen, burly Jai Lewis of Rain or Shine and Coca-Cola’s James Penny.
Alaska will parade wiry NBA D-League standout Diamon Simpson, Talk ‘N Text will have Eric Hicks and Air21 will be bannered by Larry Hickerson.

Makuntento na JONG.

^ its been deep already... our backcourt is deep.. but very uncertain about their condition.. mark and jayjay... i dont know if they are going to play 2 more years with us... without signs of injury then good...
i dont see why should i give up an exciting impact player like baguio for a non-impact player like cabagnot... coz simply put this... cabagnot does not make teams better... he plays same just like that without getting into the next level...
kevin white is a work in progress yes.. but with his capabilities... i can say he is ready next season... he may not be a next jayjay... but he may become a next alapag... he has range and speed.. i dont see why we need cabagnot to play backup since we already have cruz and white for backup chores...
what should we do next is trade billy mamaril for a future draft pick... kht 2nd round.. or ewan.. basta itapon na yan at pampagulo lang sa rotation ng big man yan

The soft-spoken coach is also confident that he can give Yancy De Ocampo a second wind in his career.

<-- thats how cheap i am as a coach.. i cant acquire a better player coz i want a lazy big man... coz ginebra already has hatfield so yancy can play lazy basketball all night long..
