hmmm well... as much as i want mc and jayjay 100% ready for battle... but we have to turn it over again to our new enforcers... (jc intal, enrico, wilson)..

we should make alaska's defense suffer... by attacking the basket... and limiting the production of willie miller helps alot...

this is tough coz their chemistry is real good.. but we can beat them.... if we play it right

I don't know if I'm the only one who feels like this but it just feels that this is the real rivalry we're looking for in a playoff series. I guarantee that we won't see any added drama here. It will be pure fantastic basketball action, so I'm really excited! Wink

The last time we met Alaska in a playoff series was in 1997. Now, how long was that? Let me give you an idea about it.

1. I was still Grade 2 back then (I'm now a college graduate) and I still remember the last game of that series. Chris King was injured but still fought hard and we won in game 6 by an amazing third quarter defense that limited Alaska to just 5 points (correct me if I'm wrong on this stat).
2. Our team was still called Gordon's Gin at that time.
3. The Big J - Sonny Jaworski, Sr. was still our coach at that time and Coach Tim was still the coach of Alaska. (Wait a minute! Tim Cone is still the coach of Alaska. Parang immortal na si Tim sa PBA coaching. Hahaha!  Grin). This was also the last championship by Jawo.  Wink
4. Our guards back then were not focused on slashing unlike now. We were known for the Flash surrounded by real great 3 pt shooters like Gayoso, Jarencio, and Hizon. In our frontline, all I can remember is the great tandem of Noli Locsin and Marlou Aquino.
5. There are no remaining active players in that last match-up except for Cariaso (still with Alaska) and Abarrientos (ironically, now with Ginebra).

So, let's get ready to rumble with Alaska starting on Wednesday! Wag na natin ulit antayin na ma 0-2 tayo bago bumangon. Kailangan great game agad sa game 1 para makuha natin agad rhythm natin at mapressure sana Alaska! I agree that our defense against Miller and Tenorio will be key in this series. Good luck!

Manalo, matalo, Ginebra pa rin ako!

siguro gagamtin natin yung parehas sa lineup against TNT... strong five natin yan sa depensa.. ang talo lang tayo is height ni THOSS.. we need menk to box him out.. or billy mamaril...

we want intal to score... wilson should also do the dirty work

Thoss kayang bantayan ni Wilson or Mamaril. Crucial sa tingin ko is yung timing ng pagpasok kila MC and JJ. Mahihirapan sila sa match up nila against INTAL, lalo pag binaba sa SG si Intal at SF si Tubid. Ayos yun!

Best of 7 semis against Alaska...

How did they fair up in the 18 Game ELIMINATIONS?

Points / Game : 95.44
Pts Allowed : 90.77
FG % : 44.9%
3pt FG : 34.3 %
2pt FG: 47.4 %
FT's : 69.45 % ( 25 ft's / game)
Rebs / Game: 49.3
Off Rebs / Game: 16.22
2nd Chance pts/game : 12.3
Assists/Game : 21
Steals / Game: 5.1
Blocks / Game: 3.2
TO's Game: 16.1
Fouls/Game: 22.9
FastBreak PPG: 8.8
TO PPG : 16.1
Bench Scoring: 30 ppg

Top 4 Players:

MILLER: 16.6ppg 6.1rpg 4.3apg
TENORIO: 14.6 ppg 4.6 rpg 4 apg
Devance: 13.7ppg 7.4rg

Hugnatan: 12ppg 6.2rpg (OFF THE BENCH)

Alaska is a team who likes to play the clock , rotate the ball well and run the triangle consistently. Starts with either Thoss or Devance at the top of the key, looking for primary/secondary cutters and sets picks for quick perimeter shots (not necessarily 3pt shots.. ) looking to shoot higher percentage more..

They had problems when teams play zone against them and when they're outside shots ain't falling. ZONE DEFENSE and TRIANGLE Offense ain't jive. Cheesy

Bulk of their scores come from those four guys, take note of HUGNATAN who never started in the elims, is consistent in producing for alaska off the bench. Miller's number is down but who cares, Tenorio is playing one of his best season yet Cheesy

The trend also shows that Turnovers isn't a problem for ALASKA. If we want to beat them bad we force them into one. Their guards need to be pressed well.

Our big men need to continue pounding it inside. Alaska's big guys isn't as deep as TNT. Although our big in the quarters rotated with MENK - VILLANUEVA  and WILSON we edged TNT in that series.. (What happened to mamaril? ... )

Intal will be marked badly. They have to put their best guy against him.  Mark and Jayjay looked bad in the court but the heart and effort was so there!! They'll bounce back in the semis for sure..  Thumbs Up

Menk and Enrico will be vital in this series..

Alaska is a strong team. I'm not seeing a ginebra sweep although i'm hoping for one. Cheesy

It'll end in 5 or 6.

Come Game 7... Araneta would have problems.. it should be played at the Quirino Grandstand!!!  hihi Cheesy

easy lang tayo, baka makarma tayo agad sa pagentertain ng thought na maka-sweep tayo. baka ma 0-2 na naman tayo. Cry basta 1 game at a time lang.
